Pre-Design Standards Historical Documents Meeting #3
June 24, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am
During the summer of 2017:
- The City of Chicago Department of Planning is developing design standards for the 75th Street, Cottage Grove,
and 79th Street corridors; and
Greater Chatham Initiative is creating a 4-block pilot 79th Street (between King Drive and St. Lawrence Avenue) - Downtown Chatham during which building facades will be improved, an iconic image/sculpture depicting
Greater Chatham will be developed, and a Kids Zone/Safe Zone corridor will be planned.
To put the above designs in historical and cultural context, we are having pre-design standards meetings where we are asking you to bring information about important civic, business and cultural people, places and events that took place in the communities of Chatham, Avalon Park and Greater Grand Crossing from 1950 to the present.
We will scan or take pictures of your documents and record your oral histories. We will also ask you what a Kids Zone, Safe Zone and Retail Zone means to you. We will compile this information into a Greater Chatham retrospective that will be available during the Design Standards Meetings.
Please RSVP to Christine Saffold at 773-644-1451 or Christine@greaterchathaminitative.org
